What To Expect in Senegal

Life is very relaxed in Cap. The day starts out with baguette and coffee as we warm up in the sun. We dance for a few hours, then take a nice swim in the ocean. Lunch is usually a tasty dish of fresh caught fish over rice in a tomatoe or peanut sauce. We might take a nice nap in the afternoon, and then dance again before the sun goes down. There is plenty of free time to walk along the beach, sketch, write in a journal or mingle with the locals. People in Senegal are very friendly and curious to learn about foreigners. The Senegalese grow up speaking many languages and are used to trying to communicate using all menans possible. Conversations are filled with lots of laughter.

Cap-Skirring has quite a night life with beach parties, and local bars and restaurants open late. Of course, one can always spend a mellow evening listening to the rhythm of the waves and gaizing at the stars.

After spending a lovely week in Cap-Skirring, we travel inland and stay in Kobiana's home village of Adiane. We stay in his family home and lounge under the Baobab tree in the afternoon. Life in Adianne is very rustic, the people in the villages farm and fish and raise animals. There is a network of rivers throughout this area, making the land lush, green and tropical. Kobiana's house is nestled ina forest of cashew trees dotted with mango trees, guava trees and other beautiful plant life.
